Whilst soaking up the myriad of bands that flowed through Newcastles Legendary Riverside venue in the 90's, Mr Robot discovered a love for electronic beats and twisted melodies that were being thrown down in between the indie sound. Soon he gravitated to the heady world that is Shindig where DJs Scott Bradford, Scooby and Mark Armstrong would spin a devastating mix of house music, accompanied by a range of guests from David Holmes, Murk to Deep Dish. Many adventures followed travelling around the UK to hear the best DJ's in the darkest clubs.
After some serious head scratching in his home studio, the forward thinking sound of Dark Room Robot was born. Blending a sound of bass-heavy technical beats aimed for both head and feet. DRR draws on Mr Robot's vast range of influences; a little bit of funk, a little bass, a little treble to slap ya face, early Clinton, Davis, Tony Allen and Kuti, Dinosaur Jr., Pure Science, Terry Francis, The Clash and the list goes on. DRR wont be pigeon holed, but if his style had to be tagged it would be fall somewhere in the realms deep tech house.
As one half of S.N.U.S and Click & Zoom, two critically acclaimed production duos signed to Forbidden Fruit, Mr Robot has developed skills that have seen recent 5 star reviews in DJ Magazine, IDJ and DMC. Singled out as an up an coming producer by DJ Magazine, his work has seen airplay on various specialist radio shows including Radio 1.
Performs Live using a set of tracks, loops, efx and custom edits using Abelton Live controlled via UC-33 and a Launchpad.
